The criticism of the appified society can’t be just “it sucks for those of us who refuse to join it, we’re left out”. That’d be circular reasoning. That’s weaksauce.
Temporary inconveniences and setbacks like running out of battery or locking your phone in the car by mistake are more legitimate. But we can do better:
The appified society is wrong when apps become necessary infrastructure, since infrastructure should be controlled by the people democratically, not privately owned by corporations. The network externality exacerbates those problems.
