I’m coming full circle with the haiku form.
As a teenager, when I first heard of them, I was told you wrote five, seven, five syllables. Sometimes 5-5-7.
Then, inundated with “well, actually”, I came to believe that that’d lead to overly verbose haikus, that you “can’t compare onyomi to western syllables”.
But I’m back around. Rhythm is a thing in poetry.
My beginner mind
not side-tracked by brevity
wrote five seven five.
