The propaganda / misinfo flow is so strong these days. That’s my election analysis: that it’s the GQP, that it’s the infocalypse.
Most people who show up with an election analysis get mad at all the other people’s way wacker takes and I’m no exception but here we are.
We’re living in the infocalypse so people can’t get good honest facts.
Opinions these days come in “package deals”. Either you have a world view where things work one way, or you see everything completely differently. It makes it seem like the other side is deliberately lying, or is absolutely deluded. And that’s how they see us, too.
People have been lied to before going to the polls. Climate denial (“weather control machines”) being the big one out of hundreds, the big one missing I mean, the one that’s for me the biggest and most devastating of many shocks.
While on the flip side, when looking at the lies that have been driving people to the polls, climate change is hardly a blip, it’s just one of many. Instead, the two that seem to have landed the hardest have been the causes and solutions for a broken economy, and the false idea that the ones hurting kids are primarily aligned with democrats or the left.
Now, as per ushe where the left can see the problems but not the solutions, I don’t know what to do about misinformation. Sometime we find the originators, sometimes not, but by then the lies have caught wind. Getting reliable information is an existential, epistemological nightmare that will only get worse now that the biggest liars of all time have crawled up on the throne.
